Monday Musings

Happy Monday post Thanksgiving, post turkey coma, post holiday decorating. Scott and I had a family filled weekend with multiple dinners and lots of relaxing. It was so nice to turn off the computer and disconnect for a few days. I did plenty of baking and even more eating – and am still working on the leftovers :) Now we are shifting gears and getting ready for the last wedding of the year, that also happens to be my little sister’s. I’m pulling double duty as MOH and photographer and am starting to wonder if I am as crazy as everyone says. I’ve got some great help though and I think we’ll be able to pull it off. And I’m already planning on spending all day Sunday in bed recovering. Between now and then though there is a lot going on.

For starters, we are attending our fourth and last Thanksgiving dinner this evening aka “Friendsgiving”. We have an amazing group of friends that we’ve started to have dinners with on Mondays and so this week we are making more delicious Thanksgiving food. Then the 21 Day Fix starts back up again tomorrow. I need to start prepping for our Florida Christmas vacation and also make sure my bridesmaid dress fits :) Then we have decorating, nail appointments, rehearsal dinner, and of course all the prep I do as a photographer to prepare. It’s going to keep me busy! But after this it’ll be the slow season and I have lots of exciting things on the business front I’m looking forward to.

And because we are spending Christmas day with the In-Laws and then headed to Florida right after- we decided not to get a Christmas tree this year. Is that sad? Probably. Though our apartment has been pretty much decorated for the holidays since Julie’s shower and so I’ll put out a few more things and it should be Christmas-y enough. It’s just a lot of work to get a tree we won’t be able to enjoy. Oh well a beach vacation is a fair trade :)

Also, if you are needing a dessert this holiday season, I have found the most amazing Pumpkin Pie recipe. Being that my family prefers other types of pie to pumpkin we rarely have it at Thanksgiving. But this year I decided that I would make one and bring it – even if I was the only one enjoying it. And it was totally worth it! Sally’s Baking Addiction lays it all out for you and I think it was the dark brown sugar that really made the difference. Even though my crust fell some during the prebaking and I could not find leaf cookie cutters, Scott came to the rescue and free handed some so it looked almost as good as it tasted :) I’ll leave you with this picture for now! Back to pre-wedding checklists and learning out how to pose a couple that’s a foot apart! :)
