An Open Letter to All You Dreamers

Sometimes being an entrepreneur is hard. There is a lot of behind the scenes work, necessary paperwork, and long hours. I would never trade this business of mine or this passion of mine for anything else but there are days that are hard. So this is just to remember the why behind it all and I hope it helps you dream chasers out there too.

Hey you. Yes, you behind the computer screen with tired eyes, adjusting sliders and editing work in all your spare moments, sometimes this job isn’t easy. You’ve been striving toward this goal for a long time now. You’ve been pushing that boulder up the hill, and even though you have some help, your arms are getting tired. And the top is so close but still just out of reach. You can do it. You will make it. That big goal, that huge moment is so close. Don’t give up! Because sometimes this dream of ours is not all fun shoots and hanging out with the world’s best clients, some days it’s long to-do lists and late hours and tax paperwork. There is always one more thing to do, one more item to check off, one more email to send. When your year just started and you’re making all these goals, ready for a fresh start and a little downtime guess what? You may not get it. You may be in the middle of a dreary wet January wondering why things are getting busier and not slowing down – why there is always more to do. IT’S A BLESSING! Remember when there was not much on the horizon and you were searching for things to shoot and write about? Well, you are blessed. Stop being frustrated and remember it for the joy it is. You get to impact people’s lives in huge ways! You get to capture the memories they may not remember. You get to create a moment that lives on far beyond the loved ones they hold dear. You give them reminders to cling to when life gets hard. So when the list seems to be getting longer and the days are cold remember the joy in a first look. Remember the tears a groom fights back as he sees his bride walking toward him. Remember the family, that even though they are from different sides greet each other as if they have been related for years. Remember that this is a privilege.
