I recently got to speak to another one of Blacksburg’s Florists that is a household name. D’Rose Flowers and Gifts has been in business since 1988. Located right off of Main St. they are a family owned and operated local business specializing in floral arrangements for all occasions, weddings, and special events. Bill started the business and while he is the main person who does the arrangements, he has had many assistants through the years that help – but he loves to do all the wedding work himself, especially bridal bouquets.
He recommends, when considering them for your wedding, to make an appointment so that for the initial consult he can dedicate the time to help you figure out the details of your day. The first thing he says to be aware of is your budget. Make sure you know what you can spend and that will help determine what flowers are feasible for you to use based on your color scheme. His second tip is to bring as many pictures and ideas as you can. If you know the look you want then you can modify and adjust things from there. After your initial consult, Bill tends to communicate with his brides either by email or phone so that he can stay in contact and keep up to date with what their day will look like. Pinterest has also been a valuable tool so he can see what you like and talked about with him so he can re-create it they way you envision. He is happy to do whatever you like and will work with you to make it happen.
D’Rose also offers set up, delivery, and they will even do your ceremony decoration when you work with them. They are able to take up to 4 weddings on a weekend if the timing is staggered but don’t really ever take 2 weddings at a time. Bill loves working with the brides unique taste and will make whatever she wants, but he loves tropical flowers personally. Besides flowers he also offers arrangements with additional items like candles to help complete the look; he’s decorated chuppah’s, archways, isles, and much more so you can trust his years of experience.
One of his great money saving tips is to take your ceremony décor to the reception, this way you can use the decorations twice and save money. He loves to help brides find cost saving ides like this from using different types of flowers to save money to ideas of other items that can complete their centerpieces and make them more unique. And while they are located here in Blacksburg, he has traveled all over to set up for weddings – he goes to Roanoke a lot and even up into the Shenandoah Valley.
What Bill really conveyed to me is that he will work with you to help your unique, creative vision come through. He is able to do almost anything and will personally be there to help set up and make the vision of your wedding come true. Not only will he work with you, he’ll help you to save money on your big day – and that’s help all Brides could use :)
