Summer Reads

Summer is coming to a close and students are back in town today but we still have a few sun-filled Saturday’s left so I wanted to take today to share with you the eclectic reads that have been on my list this summer. I’m always looking for something new to start and often am in the middle of multiple books at once. And with one more vacation on the horizon I’m welcome to any suggestions you may have! These are some I’ve started and maybe finished this summer that I’d definitely recommend you buy!

P.S. None of these are affiliates just books I’ve enjoyed and think you would too!

Summer Reads-1

  1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Obvs. I pre-ordered this in March and have been eagerly anticipating it’s arrival. After it showed up I finished it in 2 hours :) I loved reading more of the HP story and seeing where they all are after 19 years. I just hope this makes it’s way to NYC soon so I can see the play! I loved it and even though it’s in script form, definitely recommend you read it. Disclaimer: read all the other ones first! Please don’t start with this one :)
  2. Present over Perfect. This book just released last week and is already on the bestsellers list. Shauna does an amazing job of being honest, vulnerable, and makes you feel like you are across the couch from her. The way she writes speaks to my soul and if you are feeling worn out or busy this is a must read for you. I’m only part of the way in but know it’s going to be phenomenal. Also, while you are there, go ahead and just pick up any of her other books. Do it, you won’t be sorry.
  3. If You Find This Letter. This one I’ve been reading for a while. I love Hannah’s blog and this book is nothing short of wonderful it’s just not one I’ve read all in one sitting. I pick it up and read some here and there and it’s like meeting up with a friend for coffee. Refreshing and challenging. I’ve loved it.
  4. None Like Him. I picked this up at TGC4G conference this summer along with several others and have loved it! I got to hear Jen speak at the conference and she’s amazing. If you are looking for fresh, challenging, and engaging writing look no further. I’ve loved working through this slowly a chapter at a time.
  5. Ender’s Shadow. This one is thanks to my husband and brother-in-law and oh, so random. I love all types of fiction and am re-reading Ender’s Game right now as well. But they are listening to this on tape and it’s the same story as Ender’s Game, but from Bean’s perspective and I can’t wait to get into it…I’m trying to save it for the beach but don’t know how successful I’ll be :) So while I haven’t started reading it yet, I have listened to the first 1/3 on tape and know it’s going to be just as captivating as the original story.

So there you have it. A random list of books I think you need to pick up. Some are fun, some are edifying, and some are just a nice conversation over a good cup of coffee. Whichever you pick, let me know how you enjoy it! And if you have suggestions of other things I should read next comment below!
