Normally this time of year the flowers are blooming, it’s starting to warm up, and we are breaking out the camera again for the years first engagement session. However, the snow persists and winter carries on. And while I’m not a fan of the cold weather our extra long off season has been a blessing this year.
January to March is normally the time we catch our breath and catch up from the fall season. And while in the past we have still blogged and shared our “Best Of” posts (don’t worry…those are coming 2017 brides!). We did something a little different this year. Due to changes at my other job, an extra extra full fall, and working well into January, we turned everything off and went dark. It was only supposed to be for a week or two but honestly, we needed more down time.
It has been 5+ years of non-stop working, pushing, hustling, blogging, shooting, editing, and running. I love this business and what I’ve built and that’s not going to change, but something needed to. There were a couple months in the fall that we had a shoot every night and a wedding every weekend and honestly we hit a wall.
So what was supposed to be a short recharge break turned into almost 3 months and it was just what our weary souls needed. I wouldn’t change for one second the weddings and engagements we shot last year, the couples we met, the families we celebrated with – each and every one of you were amazing! But sometimes you just need to hibernate for a bit. And now that we have we are back refreshed, recharged, and ready to jump into 2018’s season!
There was so much we re-evaluated and learned from our off-season and I will be sharing more soon. I also have our highlights from last year as well as two gorgeous styled shoots coming at you.
But first I just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to step back for a bit and still be here when we picked back up. Thank you for being amazing clients and friends, and even though our business is going to look a little different now, we know it’s only going to serve you better. You can’t give out of an empty cup and now that ours are full again we are excited for what the year is going to bring!
So what’s happening with us now?
First: we are at the RWN Wedding Crawl this weekend at the Taubman Art Museum! So come out and see us as well as many other amazing vendors! If you are still planning details of your day this is a great place to get ideas, meet great wedding vendors, and of course try delicious cake!
Second: Come back to the blog on Monday where will will be sharing all the highlights from the amazing things we shot last year!
Third: There are some exciting changes coming for my 2018 brides that will hopefully make your experience with us even better – so be on the look out for that in your email soon!
Finally: A very happy anniversary to these two! I can’t believe it’s been a year since their amazing Vegas wedding!
