Scarf Swap!

Scarf Swap

I first met Rachel from Floral and Fudge Blog years ago at North Park University. Her roommate Ruth and my roommate Esther are sisters so we would have them over to our apartment a lot to escape dorm life and because Ruth made a killer lasagna :) That was almost 10 years ago now, Facebook had just been created and was still exclusive to college students, and instead of blogs we had Xanga. Since then we’ve all moved away from Chicago. Rachel got married and moved to Pennsylvania with her husband Steve and started having adorable babies. When she launched her blog I started reading it to see how life after college was treating her and see pictures of her boys. She is amazing at DIY projects for their work in progress house and always has yummy dessert recipes to share. Over the last year Rachel has been linking up with The Hill Collection blog to show case fun décor, beauty tips, and delicious recipe ideas. It wasn’t until Rachel and Ashleigh met up in did I realize that Ashleigh lives in Blacksburg, VA too! Out of all the bloggers Rachel could have “met” through the internet she linked up with a girl from my home town! And not only are Ashleigh and I from the same place, I grew up in the same church as her husband and he and I now work together at Tech! So it is a very small world.

When they announced their Fall scarf exchange I couldn’t wait to be a part of it! First of all, who doesn’t love a fun new scarf to celebrate the beginning of this cooler season, boots, and of course Starbucks holiday drinks. Second of all, it was a chance to return to the days of pen pals. Even though the internet brings us close together it’s still fun to get mail from someone you’ve never met and have your lives connect for that little moment.

I got to send a scarf to Suzanne Hines. A mom in Ohio who blogs about life, kids, and adoption. She is also an MK from Africa and like me, did not grow up in the states. I just loved all these connections through a simple thing like blogging :) I had fun reading through her blog and getting to know her a little more.

The scarf below came from Rachel of Little Blue Sailboat, a blogger who lives in Maryland with her husband and baby boy. They have only been married a few years, but had their wedding in the same place we honeymooned! She did a great job picking out this fun teal and navy scarf (it’s like she knows how often I wear navy!). It was SUPER windy the day we snapped these pictures as the hurricane was on the way, but we grabbed a few. Then I got a detail shot for you once I got back inside.

It’s not often there are pictures of me on this blog – but a shout out to Scott for snapping a few for me :) I’m excited to see the other scarf posts today! Make sure you visit their blogs and give them some love!
