Well, we are finally back from two wonderful, glorious, relaxing weeks at the beach. A two-week vacation is definitely the way to go if you have that option because you are finally relaxed and have de-stressed by the end of week one and then you get a whole other week to rest! We just kept commenting how the second week felt unreal and how we were becoming true islanders :) It definitely helped us recover from the crazy “off” season and get ready for wedding season to start!
Both weeks we had perfect weather with only one cloudy day. The first week there were 8 of us in a beach-front house and drinking coffee while watching dolphins in the surf is my new favorite thing. Then 4 of us stayed for week two in a smaller house a couple back from the dunes, and it was also amazing but we decided beach front is the way to go. The guys fished and caught some of the biggest bluefish I’ve seen and us girls read or enjoyed the hot tub. I lost count of the number of books I read sometime after 12 (and that was during week one) but it was the perfect way to unwind.
We ate tons of fresh seafood, caught a few sharks, had a bonfire on the beach, saw an amazing full moon, and found our new favorite restaurant (Buxton Munch) and even rode the ferry over to Ocracoke one day! And even though we’ve been to the Outer Banks a bunch of times before, every time we vacation on the island it gets better! Here are a few of the many pictures (both real and iphone) we took!
We did a porch/beach photoshoot…
And a fish one! :)
The day my brother-in-law let us take the jeep out for a spin…and I almost didn’t bring it back :)
