Monday Musings: Goals

goals

Happy New Year! It is the first Monday of the year and with it comes the first musings post. Last week was very light and short because there’s not much to talk about when you are just reading good books on the beach all day long while your husband surf fishes (no complaints at all). But this week we are back and gearing up for 2016. This month is light in actual behind the camera time but very heavy in all things business and it’s a nice change of pace. I’m looking forward to setting things up and getting ready for the coming year. In light of that – and since it’s resolution time I thought I’d share goals I have both personally and professionally for the coming year. For two reasons: One, so that they are out there and vocalized and more likely to become a reality and two, so that you all can hold me accountable! These are things I want to have accomplished by this time next year so lets see how it goes :)

  1. Read 12 non-fiction books this year. I’m really good at speeding through the fiction ones, but I want to read things that are edifying as well. So, each month I am going to read a book that helps me improve as either a business owner or a photographer. I have a few on the list to start with but if you have suggestions comment with them below!
  2. I am going to be intentional and consistent in my blogging. I have become better in the last few months and want to keep improving on that. So I plan to show up and blog 2-3 times a week consistently through out the year. I will have new posts keyed up and ready to go on Mondays and Thursdays every week with maybe a bonus one thrown in here and there. Then we’ll re-evaluate in July and see how it’s going.
  3. Start working out again and eating healthy. Today is Day 1 again of the 21 Day Fix! Since getting married I’ve really done nothing, so this month I’m getting back into it and starting to eat healthy again. I just feel better and have more energy when I do and want to make it part of my routine – so instead of just doing a round and stopping I want to make it something I do daily (or at least most days). So to make it tangible (and because life happens) I want to do some type of workout at least 4 days a week. And only have one day a week to eat less healthy aka treat days :)
  4. On that note – I’m going to try and work out in the mornings because the evenings are just full and busy. So this next goal will probably be my hardest but I want to stop snoozing my alarm clock. Eeek. I am normally a multiple offender and they say it makes you more tired. So when the alarm goes off I want to get up. This is the one I see not happening – but I want to become a better morning person and have time to eat breakfast and not just be running out the door in a hurry.
  5. Try one new recipe a month. This is due to the fact I love cooking, got a new cookbook for Christmas, and want to branch out and try new foods. I am by no means a food blogger, but I may share the experience if it’s interesting :)
  6. Lastly, I want to learn and master one new skill as a photographer – not sure what exactly yet but I have a few ideas. This one is in the works so I’ll keep you updated as it progresses, but some how I want to become better at my craft this year.

So there we go – 6 ways to improve in 2016 :) Thank you for coming along for the journey and keeping me accountable. I am excited to see where this year takes us and all the things that have yet to happen!
