There are some people who no matter where you are or what is going on in your life they will be a part of it. That is the case with my group of girl friends from college. We are three sets of roommates who all started hanging out at random times for random reasons. Erikka and I rowed together freshman year, then her Alicia and I were in 8 am photography classes together. Suz and Krista lived the floor above us and were good friends with our neighbors, and Esther was my roommate for most of our four years, including summers.
In an effort to see each other more when we left the dorm and moved into campus apartments, we started getting together for breakfast every Monday morning. Different people would host and it always turned into hours of talking and me inevitable skipping my 9am senior seminar.
Post graduation we have stayed in touch. First through email and facebook messages, then in a facebook group, and now in a group message where we text each other daily.
We have been a part of each others weddings, prayed for one another through the good and the hard, been there to throw showers and celebrate babies, and cry when life handed us too much.
Over the past 10 years life has taken us to every corner of this continent and though we stay in touch we always try to get together at least once a year. Lately it’s been for a wedding but now that all of us are married we finally coordinated another girls weekend. And for the first time in 6 years all 6 of us could make it!
We flew to Canada to stay with Erikka and spent the weekend catching up more in depth than text will allow. Laughing, crying, and eating. It was an amazing, refreshing, beautiful time. And I love how even though it’s been a while since we’ve been in person we picked up right where we left off.
And as a fun addition to the week, my flight left a day later than everyone else’s and so after the group headed their separate ways, I met up with another dear friend, this time from high school! Noelle and I can’t remember the last time we saw each other but it was at some point in college so 10+ years. Again, it was like we hadn’t missed a day. We biked the sea wall, walked the Olympic Village and Grandville Island, and talked for hours.
I am so lucky to have these amazing women in my life and cherish their friendships! Here are a few of the many pictures I took!

Alicia and I are both photographers and she has been an amazing support, cheer section, and “business partner” throughout the years!
