If you follow me on social media at all you know I had the chance to photograph the sweetest surprise proposal on Saturday! And since I couldn’t wait to share, I’m posting the whole story here today instead of our normal Monday Musings!
Chase and Amanda first met at a restaurant downtown Roanoke. In his words, they sat at the same patio table, spent the night talking over drinks, and the rest is history. In her words, after she met him that night, she texted her mom “I think I just met my husband.” And it turned out to be true! With the help of his sister and both their parents, Chase planned a beautiful proposal right on the spot they first met. He told her that his work was having an event so that she’d be a little dressier for the occasion and his sister invited her out for manicures feigning a girls day out so her hands would be ready to show off that ring. As they walked around the corner the shock on her face was priceless. She was shocked as Chase led her to tables covered in sunflowers and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. With a resounding yes and a few tears he placed the ring on her finger. Only then did she turn and notice her mom and the tears began again. Hugs were passed all around as their families celebrated. Then after a few minutes for some portraits they headed out to celebrate the start of their journey as husband and wife!

Chase, thank you for letting me capture this special moment for you and Amanda. And to your sister, Chauncey, thank you for doing all the setup and behind the scenes planning with me! I hope this is a moment you will never forget and that your joy will continue for years to come. Here are a few highlights from that night!
So the proposal was originally supposed to happen on 8.27 but besides being 100+ degrees that day, Chase ended up in the emergency room with kidney stones! We of course rescheduled and so the sign got a little update :)
She still can’t believe it’s really happening!
One of my favorite details…since this is where they met Amanda has a necklace with the coordinates on it, now it’s doubly special!
The whole crew!
This post is even more special because it was just a year ago today I was shooting another surprise proposal! If anyone is planning to propose the first weekend of October next year let me know! It’s tradition now :)
