Happy Monday! I thought this post-Thanksgiving holiday Monday would be a hard one but I woke up before my alarm and was out the door to spin class before I could even start to dread vacation being over. This weekend was perfect and was a relaxing one spent with family and food and some much needed down time. And now we are back at work and headed into our second to last wedding of the year!
We started the holiday weekend by doing something a little crazy. We met up with Scott’s cousins and drove all the way to Duke University for a basketball game. Since we are big Duke fans and everyone needs to experience Cameron once in their lives we decided it was just crazy enough and headed down to Durham.
We toured part of the campus and saw the beautiful cathedral chapel. It reminded me of Europe and I loved it! Also, can someone please get married there and let us shoot it?? It was gorgeous! Pardon the iPhone pics, they don’t do it justice.
Then we stocked up on some new gear at the bookstore and headed over to the stadium. It was a fun experience, made all the better by them winning and after a walk through the Hall of Fame museum and a look at all their trophies, we hit the road and headed back to VA. And though we didn’t make it home til 2am and we were a little tired for Thanksgiving it was definitely worth the trip.
Haha, photo bomb.
We spent the next couple days with family around the table, enjoying copious amounts of pie and the then rest of the weekend was devoted to Black Friday sales, Gilmore Girls, and reading Harry Potter. After starting a new podcast all about HP I picked the books back up and am now halfway through 5, thanks in part to reading most of Saturday. This time through the series I’m excited to read The Cursed Child right after 7 and see if it at all changes my view on things! All in all a pretty great Thanksgiving.
Now here are all my musings regarding the Gilmore Girls reboot! (Don’t worry – no spoilers.)
- As an avid fan, and someone who has watched every episode multiple times I loved loved loved it. I think it was everything we hoped season 7 would be and wasn’t. It had some quirky weirdness I loved, plenty of laughter through tears, and a great look at where all the girls are now. My only complaint was Amy and Dan (the creators) nodded a little too heavily to their other work that didn’t necessarily need to be in there (aka the Stars Hollow Musical went on about 10 minutes too long). If they’d spent a little less time on that it would have been perfect. Obviously, Fall was my favorite season and I laughed/sobbed through most of it.
- I told my sister that I compared Winter and Spring to seasons 1+2, loved them but we were still getting into the stride of things, Summer was like season 6, not our favorite but necessary to the story, and Fall was like season 4 (aka the best ever). What do you think? Which season was your favorite? (You can say all of them :)
- The only thing that could have made it better would have been more screen time for some people and if it didn’t end. Can we have a re-reboot? Please?
- Last thought on it – I loved the Parenthood cameos and the way they echoed that show, in that we see the characters lives will go on long after we are done watching.
If you haven’t seen them yet, you should. It’s definitely worth your time! What were your thoughts on it? Did it live up to the hype? Comment below I’d love to hear your opinion!
