Monday Musings

Happy Monday! Can you believe it is the last one in June? Where is this summer going? Between going out of town and all the shooting we are doing, this summer is flying by. We spent the weekend with the sweetest couple photographing their wedding and it was a perfect, glorious day – with some of the best Mac n’ cheese I’ve ever eaten. We are so happy for you Halls!

But, after a weekend of shooting and then helping our upstairs neighbors move, twitters trending hashtag #mondaymotivation was just what I needed to get moving and get stuff done. Also, this sums up my life:

If your Monday mornings are as rough as mine tend to be, one of my long-time inspirations, Hannah Brencher sends out a dose of “butt-kicking pep talk” with words steeped in love and you should subscribe because she’s amazing. It’s one of my favorite things to show up in my post-weekend inbox.

In other musings:

  • Scott and I have been watching Community lately (since after 5 times through Parks and Rec we needed a break) and it’s amazing. At first, we were very unsure but make it past the first 3-4 episodes and  you will be hooked. It is hilarious and weird and a great light show. My favorite so far has been the Paintball episode, but the Dungeons and Dragons one was also pretty amazing.
  • I just finished listening to Me Before You on audio book and even though I saw the ending coming a mile away like a freight train, it still was hard to read listen to. It was a great book and I’m excited to see the movie (but because we are cheap it’ll probably be once it hits Redbox).
  • While I don’t like to eat ice cream – I’m really enjoying this artist that fills Chicago potholes with his work. Beautifying and improving the city all in one :)
  • Sometimes I rent gear to supplement our wedding day and this past weekend on a whim I rented a lens I haven’t shot with in a few years (the 85mm for you photographers out there). Unfortunately, I loved it so much I pulled the trigger and bought it from the rental company and won’t be sending it back. I forgot how great it is! I can’t wait to bring it to my July engagement sessions :)
  • Finally, in honor of national sunglasses day and my friend Will being in town, I’m taking the afternoon off, putting on my shades, and floating the river…that is as long as the rain holds off. It’ll be a nice break after our crazy couple of days!

But come back tomorrow to see more of the new Mr. and Mrs. Hall. Their day was amazing!
