Happy Memorial Day! Today it is an honor to remember those who gave their lives for this country.

We spent this weekend at our wedding venue helping two of our good friends get married! Some of you brides know Jes well as she was my right hand girl before Scott started shooting with me. She is one of the sweetest most helpful people and it was a joy to watch her marry her best friend. And it was fun to attend a wedding instead of working :) Here are a few cell phone pics from the day!

Other musings from the past week:

• It is finally starting to feel like summer with the weather warming up and the fact that we have grilled almost every night. I’ve been sitting out in the sun as much as possible and loving every minute.
• On a recent beach trip we discovered this drink recipe and it was a winner. We are having people over to grill tonight and I think one of the main reasons is so we can make these again. They’re that good – going to be a perfect pool drink this year :)
• And sitting in the sun means a little extra time for reading. I’m halfway through Hannah Brencher’s memoir. I did a coaching session with her years ago and her book has been on my must read list for a while, I only wish I had started it sooner. She writes with such passion and emotion you can’t help but connect with her. If you need a pick-me-up, encourager, cheer section, and some butt kicking – head over to her blog. She inspires me constantly to chase my dreams even harder and with more vigor.
• I love the emotion and all the interactions that happen on a wedding day and they are one of my favorite things to shoot, but a close second would be the detail shots. I love seeing all the brides hard work come together and the small things that add to the story of the day. So when we got these invitations in the mail this week it made my heart happy. Michael and Rebecca had one of my all time favorite engagement sessions and so we were already excited for their big day and this peek at it made me even more ready to shoot it!
