Here in Virginia we are having a snow day! Finally we have our first good snow of the year falling outside and accumulating quickly. I love unexpected days off to catch up on the things near the end of your to do list and to have extended movie marathons on the couch. The calm quiet of everything closing and the world slowing down. For hot chocolate and popcorn and staying in your sweatpants :) And maybe even some sledding.

With nothing more to do than rest or read a good book it reminds me that slowing down is necessary and to make time to stop more often. That’s one of the reasons I love winter, even though the nights are longer, things run a little slower and there are more chances for big glasses of red wine and roaring fires.

There is a certain beauty when the view out your window looks like this and your car is stuck in the driveway.
