Monday Musings

Happy Leap Day! It’s almost March, the sun is out and it feels like spring. I’m ignoring the snow warning on Friday and enjoying this extra day in February :) After a pretty perfect, just not long enough weekend we are back at it this Monday morning and getting ready for the last month of slow season before wedding season begins. That means wrapping up projects, finishing the business plans for the year, and catching up on things around the house.

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I LOVE the 21 Day Fix work out plan. It’s short 30 minute workouts and the eating plan they give you to go with it is so simple. No counting, weighing or figuring out calories. Instead you get fun colored containers for each food group and they help you eat the correct portions. It’s easy to follow and because of that you see results. And with our semi-annual beach trip on the horizon I started up again doing back to back rounds before we leave (no motivation like having to wear a swimsuit!).

When you order the program from Beachbody you have the option to order a superfood protein shake called Shakeology. Scott and I have been drinking it for years – all the way back to the Greenberry days. And let me tell you it tasted very green and very healthy. So when they launched Chocolate I was very happy and immediately switched. My favorite is to blend it with banana and peanut butter and it tastes like a milkshake for breakfast. I drink one before every wedding I shoot too because it gives me tons of energy and keeps me full! Over the years the company has launched several other flavors and we’ve tried them all, Strawberry (fail, tasted like chalky strawberry milk), Vanilla (big fail, grainy and gross), but recently they launched a Cafe Latte flavor! Now you all know my severe love of coffee so I was intrigued. Could it be good? Could anything beat chocolate? Well, my amazing Beachbody coach, Courtney gave me a sample packet last week. And in an effort to be fair I blended it with only water. No milk, no flavorings, no add ins. I wanted to taste it plain and simple. And…it was delicious! Tastes like a perfectly brewed iced coffee. So, so yummy. And while I’m not giving up on my chocolate banana shake, I’m going to have to add in a bag of Cafe Latte to keep things interesting.

Ok, so why am I telling you all this? What does this have to do with you? Well right now Courtney is running a special on all Beachbody challenge packs! So if you order through her she’s going to throw in some freebies for you and you get to have her as a coach. That means constant encouragement, motivation, and recipe ideas to help you be successful. So all you brides who are trying to get in shape for your wedding you need to contact her today! In 3 weeks you will see huge results and if you do more than one round they only multiply. Click on her name above to contact her or this link to order!)

So, other than working out and eating healthy (aka no more late night Taco Bell runs womp womp). This is what we’ve been up to:

  • We watched The Martian this weekend because we had a free Redbox rental and have been wanting to see it. It was good, but a little boring at times and Scott says he doesn’t trust Matt Damon in space so that made it harder to watch. (If you’ve seen Interstellar you know what he means :) I want to read the book now because I’m sure it’d be more interesting since books are able to convey thoughts more accurately and since he’s alone on Mars I wanted more background than his monologues.
  • I woke up early on Sunday and got so much done before we headed to church. I can see now why people like mornings – I felt so productive. However, then I was ready for bed at 8:30 and decided I’m not quite a convert to mornings yet.
  • I spent most of Saturday evening making pasta from scratch. I’d done it before when I lived with my sister but this was my first time using my fancy KitchenAid attachment. And in a effort to stay healthy I made whole wheat pasta and homemade marinara. That’ll all be on the blog on Thursday!
  • Also, almost all our small light bulbs have recently burnt out. I don’t know if it’s because they were all put in at once but it’s becoming a big problem. Especially since you have to buy the specialty sizes and we don’t have them on hand – i.e. the microwave ones (don’t know how much you love them til they’re gone!), the bathroom vanity, and the under the counter lights. So this means we need to get to the store and spend $100 on bulbs. No fun.
  • Lastly, I am slowly stocking up on books to take to the beach – so besides reading The Martian I need suggestions! Any good (and preferably not too expensive) books I should get now. I want my Nook to be full when we leave :) Comment below with your ideas!

That’s really all that’s been going on in the Edmiston household. Come back on Thursday for my adventures in pasta making! Until then I’m counting down to this view:
