We met just steps from his old apartment. At this hidden gem right in the middle of Roanoke. When they were first dating this was the spot where Doug and Sara would take long walks with his German shepherd.

They met doing what they both love: serving others. She was an aid to a family with an autistic son. He was assigned as support to the mom and while they were serving this family they formed a great friendship. It wasn’t until almost a year later they realized this was something special and started dating.

It was during this season last year that Doug started dropping hints to drive the blue ridge parkway to see the leaves. Little did Sara know, the ring that now sits on her finger was on its way. And Doug, unable to keep it a secret took her for a drive the day it showed up and proposed to Sara. It was a complete, but joyful, surprise.

Now they are planning to live their lives together doing what they do best, helping others and are starting their own clinic.

Doug and Sara, it was such fun to finally meet you after the months of emails! You all are so amazing and the way you care about others is evident.
