A Latin Fiesta!

Behind The Lens is a new installment on the blog that lets you peek into my day to day life. Thanks for stopping by!

So, some of you may not know but I’m famous for my guacamole making skills. Like, internationally known for my recipe. I was taught by our Mexican maid with avocados picked off the tree in our backyard, and needless to say it’s authentic and delicious. Even if I’m not actually making it my mom always makes sure I do a quality check. So, when we get together for Latin food night you can guess what I’m always asked to bring – and I don’t mind because as much as I love making guacamole, I love eating it more :)

A few weeks ago we got together with some of our good friends for a themed Latin food night. Since they lived in Venezuela growing up we try to get as authentic as possible. Heather made Arepas (a maize cake you can stuff with anything delicious) and fresh Pico de Gallo, my sister Julie made homemade tortillas, mom provided the flank steak for the tacos and Ecuadorian ceviche, and Katie and Mel brought more toppings than we could possible eat (and their adorable babies!). And this was all washed down with a pitcher of margaritas. We know how to do Latin food right :)

And even though we were sufficiently stuffed, we finished with the most amazing chocolate flan cake. And while my love for guacamole is bad, it doesn’t even touch my obsession with Flan (seriously. Love.)
