We had a weekend that was full of all the very best things.
On Friday we had date night. We opened a fancy bottle of wine and Scott made me delicious New York Strip and while I charged batteries and got everything ready for Saturday. That dawned bright and early and the thing that made the not sleeping in better was hanging out with Kaitie and Jonathan at their adorable engagement shoot. Oh and these.
We spent the morning wandering around The Homeplace restaurant in 20 degree weather. They cuddled up on swings and I bundled up in winter gear. It was my first shoot of the year and what a way to kick it off – I mean look how cute:
Then after running some errands in Roanoke for an awesome secret project I am working on I headed all the way down to Floyd and met another amazing couple at Red Rooster coffee. Jason, Kayla, and her son Noah and I wandered in between old buildings and down alleys to capture their engagement pictures – and her son Noah just stole my heart with his dimples. The thing I love most about engagement shoots is you get time to talk and hang out and it’s really where I start to become friends with my couples more than just their photographer. And you also get time to get shots like this:
Sunday was also full from start to finish – church all morning then finally taking time to clean the house after recovering from sickness. And we hosted people for Super Bowl 50. Being non-cable people we planned to just stream it on the CBS sports app but fail – it kept freezing. I think everyone was trying to do the same and overloaded the server. Thankfully we had an antenna that we hooked up and were able to watch the whole game – just missed Gaga.
But the game was a little sad. Lots of fumbles, slips, and sloppy plays – and while I’m happy Peyton got his 200th, I wanted the Panthers to win. However, I’m more sad for the state of commercials. There were way too many pharmaceutical companies and not enough creative ones. But the water one did provoke some very interesting conversations about the different ways we all brush our teeth :) My favorite may have been the wiener dogs though and it wasn’t the cute puppies but the little ketchup packet that won it for me. So cute. Now we have way too much left over dip in the fridge and I’m not complaining one bit. I could live on chips and dip and be happy – though I don’t think the 21 Day Fix would approve.
Overall, it was a weekend full of things I love: delicious food, good friends, and gorgeous engagement shoots. Now if only it was always the weekend :)
