We are coming off a long, snowed in weekend. For three days I didn’t leave my house or do anything except read Harry Potter, spend quality time with my husband, puzzle with the upstairs neighbors (aka my brother-in-law and his girlfriend), eat good food, and play video games. Yep – video games. I’m now hooked and we have purchased my own a second controller. It was the perfect stay-cation and I’m sad it’s over. So instead of musings full of the things I accomplished this weekend – here’s a list of everything I didn’t do because life isn’t all pretty Instagrams and honest always trumps perfect.
- I didn’t turn on my computer. Not even once.
- I didn’t open my planner. I left all my to do lists shut in favor of hanging out with Scott.
- I didn’t do the dishes or laundry. The chores waited.
- I didn’t put on “real clothes” and hung out in fuzzy warm pjs instead.
- I didn’t take snowy pictures – but enjoyed the beauty without my camera.
- I didn’t leave the house or play in the snow – ok this one I’m a little sad about :)
- I didn’t go to bed on time or set an alarm.
- I didn’t update Instagram or Facebook. I stayed off social media and tried to be present.
- I didn’t work out or stick to my diet, because Oreo truffles.
- And I am not sorry about any of these things.
When life slows down I savor it – and am immediately ready for another blizzard! I love my job and I love my clients, but pushing pause are the times I’m going to remember and enjoy. But now it’s back to real life and I hope this list of things I ignored this weekend reminds you to enjoy the days together and not be rushing through life. So while it’s not pretty snow pictures – and not photograph worthy – I wouldn’t trade this weekend for anything. Happy Blizzard 2016! Can it happen this weekend too? :)
