Steven and Patty – Portraits

It was a humid summer night as I pulled into the Radford farmers market parking lot, the kind that makes you want to ride around with your windows down. A few minutes later Steven and Patty pulled up with their puppy happily panting in the back seat. I met Steven and Patty two years ago and as I’ve gotten to know them I have loved what kind, welcoming, giving people they are. So when they asked me to take a few pictures for them to hand out as they raised support to be missionaries in Germany of course I was so excited. As we talked over where and what style shoot they would like Patty asked if I wouldn’t mind shooting some candids as well. Sadly, when they were out in Colorado training for their new position in Germany there was an accident at their farm house and it caught fire, ruining everything including all their photographs. It was so sad and so when Patty asked me to capture new memories for them and help them start to rebuild I was beyond touched. It was such an honor to step into the lives of these people always willing to serve, and be able to serve them in return. And so, we wondered around the town of Radford and over to Wildwood Park and just got to chat and pause at some beautiful spots. They are happy as clams and love the cuddly kissy poses as well so needless to say we had an amazing time – and it wasn’t until I closed my car door to leave that the skies opened and it started to pour, can you say perfect timing? I hope you all enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them!
