Have you ever met someone and just clicked? It was a little over a year ago that I attended my first bridal show and had spent the day talking to hundreds of perspective, excited brides. It was so much fun to talk to them, hear about what they wanted their wedding day to be, and tell them about us – however then Lisa and her mom Nancy stopped by my booth. Even just in the 10 minutes we talked I could tell we had a lot in common. Then after we got together to talk about me shooting her wedding I could tell we were going to be friends for more than just one day. It was just so comfortable – as if we’d been friends for years. Then I got to meet Ivan and my first thought was…wow he’s tall :) And one of the nicest people you could know. So of course I couldn’t wait for their beautiful wedding at Claytor Lake in July.
The morning of the wedding I woke up to the sound of pouring rain. Dread filled both mine and Lisa’s stomachs as we texted back and forth about what we were going to do. How can you get married outdoors in the rain? So we prayed, and waited, and prayed some more. It poured as I arrived at the hotel, and as Lisa got ready – but backup plan in place and all Lisa more than anything wanted to use her outdoor gazebo on the lake. Then, as I left to head over to the venue the clouds parted, the storm blew over, and the radar that was at a 50% chance of rain dropped to 0%! It was amazing. So we wiped off the guests chairs, avoided mud puddles, and told Lisa the news…and isn’t the look on her face priceless?
And the day carried on from there with out a hitch. It was a beautiful, fun, party of a celebration for Ivan and Lisa’s marriage and I was honored to be a part of it, not just to capture the fun moments but to share this day with someone who I know will stay a friend. Here are a few more shots from the day!
And man did they party!
