I’ve been a little MIA for the last couple Mondays because it turns out, getting ready to shoot the first wedding of the season, while planning your wedding, while your other job launches the biggest project of the year makes your life a little hectic. Oh, and I turned 30 in the middle of all that :)
It has been a crazy couple weeks since Scott and I got engaged. Wedding planning and wedding season are in full swing! I spent the weekend outside Winston-Salem, NC shooting the wedding of a close friend at one of the prettiest venues ever. But more on that to come. As far as our wedding planning goes we’ve picked a date, changed the date, secured our venue, booked a photographer, found a caterer, booked a stylist, found a DJ, and set up meetings with florists. Progress is being made internet. And it’s been fun and a little crazy – but through it all I am just amazed at how everything is working out. All the details are falling into place and things are happening just how they are supposed to. I am remarkably calm and definitely not as stressed as I thought I would be when it came to my own wedding. Now that I have the venue I wanted and an amazing photographer (because let’s be honest – besides the marriage the pictures are the most important thing to me) I’m not really worried about anything else that happens. And that’s been very freeing. Remind me I said this in a month or two though! :) One thing I will say, is make sure you have your budget up front – it’ll make your life so much easier and then there is less of a chance you’ll spend way too much!
So besides all the wedding planning, the other exciting thing on the horizon is my trip to LA next week! I get to go spend an entire week with my college roommate and best friend as well as meet her beautiful new daughter and love on her 2 year old son. I can’t wait to see her, and that California sun isn’t going to hurt things either :) We try to see each other at least once a year and I’m excited for long conversations and a chance to slow down and catch up on each other’s lives – over a really good cup of coffee.
So, for now I am going to leave you with a sneak peek from this weekend along with 4 words: Carol Lee Doughnut Cake. Check back later this week to see what doughnuts, lobsters, and dairy barns all have in common!
